No. 24 UNG women's basketball set to host first-ever PBC championship game

DAHLONEGA — For the first time in program history, the No. 24 University of North Georgia women's basketball team will host the 2018 Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championship inside the brand new UNG Convocation Center this weekend. In total, three games will be played inside the building, starting with UNG taking on Georgia College at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The top-seeded Nighthawks advanced to the semifinals after a nine-point win over eighth-seeded UNC Pembroke Wednesday night. Fifth-seeded Georgia College defeated Flagler by nine in the quarterfinals to advance to Dahlonega. This season, the two teams split the regular season matchups with both winning in their home gyms.

In the second semifinal, second-seeded Lander will take on the No. 3 seed, Columbus State, at 5:30 p.m. In the regular season, the two teams each won at their home gyms.

Live stats will be provided for all three games of the tournament as will live video through the Peach Belt Conference Network. Pregame shows will start approximately 10 minutes prior to tipoff of each game. For North Georgia games, fans can listen to the games through Glory 1330 and 97.9 FM on the air waves, or through the TuneIn app by searching for Glory 1330.

General admission tickets will be sold outside the front entrance of the UNG Convocation Center. Ticket prices will be $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for students (ages 7-18). Admission is free for all children ages six (6) and under as well as all students with a valid ID from a Peach Belt Conference institution.
