Piedmont baseball players Brady Ballstadt and Sam Carpenter were named USA South Conference Baseball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, while Mariann Kennison was named conference Softball Player of the Week.

Lamont Nesbitt also brought home Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week honors, the first Athlete of the Week honor that the men's lacrosse team has won.

In a 9-7 win over conference foe Methodist, Nesbitt won 15-of-19 faceoffs against the Monarchs and scooped up six ground balls and had one assist.

The baseball team posted a 3-1 week with a sweep over conference opponent Berea and a 9-8 loss to Oglethorpe. Ballstadt was held hitless against Oglethorpe but combined for nine hits, six runs, nine RBI, two homeruns and two stolen bases against Berea. In Friday's first game against Berea, the junior had four hits, four RBI and one homerun.

Carpenter pitched an 8-inning shutout with a career-high 12 strikeouts as the Lions took an 11-0 win over Berea on Friday.

Kennison helped lead the Lady Lions to a 3-3 weekend as they swept Agnes Scott on Thursday and finished the weekend with a 1-3 record in the Grand Slam Tournament in Raleigh, N.C.

Against the Scotties, Kennison had two runs, three hits, four RBI and a homerun. On Saturday against Pfeiffer and Averett, the Queen Creek, Ariz. registered two hits, one homerun, one run and one RBI. On Sunday, the junior had two homeruns, four hits, two RBI and two stolen bases.

The USA South Athletic Conference announces its weekly honor roll each Monday and at least half of the teams in a sport must have competed within the previous week for honors to be awarded.
