While the non-region schedule continues to play out for most area baseball teams, Regions 8-A and 8-AA will begin region action this week.
Playoff teams from a year ago, Banks County and Rabun County both will open Region 8-AA play with key doubleheaders at home on Friday. In Region 8-A, Riverside Military Academy travels to Athens Academy to open region play on Friday.
One of the more interesting non-region battles sees Buford traveling to LaGrange on Thursday to participate in the three-day LaGrange Invitational taking on teams from Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.
