Vote expected Tuesday on Suwanee housing development at church site

Suwanee City Council is expected to vote Tuesday on a housing development at the current site of Suwanee First Baptist Church on Eva Kennedy Road.

Spartan Investors, LLC is looking to put 93 townhomes on the 18-acre tract of land, demolishing the existing church building in the process, according to Marty Allen, city manager.

The Suwanee Planning Commission has recommended a denial of the plan.

Spartan Investors is requesting a rezoning of the property from R-100, which calls for single family detached homes, to RM-6, which allows for townhomes.

The neighborhood would be accessed only from Eva Kennedy Road, if approved.

Council is expected to give it a final vote Tuesday night at 6:30 at Suwanee City Hall.
