RABBITTOWN — From the moment she walks in the gym, East Hall's Carly Winters is ready to pull the trigger.
And it's quite that the dead-eye senior guard will drain whatever shot she attempts.
The Lady Vikings standout is staring down the stretch run of an impressive career with a high-level program. And Winters will graduate and join Georgia State's squad as the East Hall's leader for 3-pointers made in a game (12) and a season (130 and counting). She's also the third leading scorer in Lady Vikings history (1,643 points) -- behind Brenda Hill-Gilmore (1,989) and Yvonne Hollifield Bennett (1,712) -- and is one of just eight East Hall girls to score 500-plus points in a season after doing so in 2017-18.
But for all the personal accolades Winters has amassed, she's much more interested in helping her Lady Vikings to another deep run in the state playoffs -- like the semifinal appearance she enjoyed as a freshman with East Hall.
With that in mind, the Lady Vikings will travel to Lovett on Thursday for a second round showdown that could push them back into the Class AAA quarterfinals. And you can bet that Winters will play a key role in that match-up.
