UNG men completes season sweep of Georgia College

MILLEDGEVILLE — Shaquan Cantrell scored a game-high 17 points, 12 of which came in the second half, as the University of North Georgia men's basketball team snapped a four-game losing skid with a 66-59 win over Georgia College Saturday evening.

The game was tied at 33 as both teams went to the locker room, but the Nighthawks came out on an 8-0 run over the first 4:15 of the second half to take a 41-33 lead.

Georgia College fought back, though, to take the lead back with 8:30 left to play, 47-46, and led by one point three times over the final eight minutes, but the Nighthawks finished the game on a 13-6 run to earn the win.

NOTES
- Ebo Smith and Tyler Dominy each finished with 12 points. Ephraim Tshimanga finished with just five points but also added six rebounds, four steals and three assists in his 32 minutes on the floor.

- North Georgia shot just over 47 percent from the field and held the Bobcats to just 31 percent shooting.

- UNG now sits alone in sixth place in the Peach Belt Conference.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks will take on Lander in the final regular season road game for North Georgia. A win over the Bearcats will lock up a quarterfinal berth for UNG in the Peach Belt tournament. Tip time on Wednesday is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
