UNG softball's Smith tabbed as Louisville Slugger/NFCA Pitcher of the Week

University of North Georgia sophomore softball player Kylee Smith keeps gaining weekly accolades as she was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Pitcher of the Week as announced by the association Wednesday afternoon.

Smith picked up three wins and a save helping the seventh-ranked Nighthawks (11-0) to a 4-0 showing at the South/Southeast Region Crossover in St. Augustine, Florida. The sophomore from Suwanee posted a 0.38 ERA, surrendering a run with 35 strikeouts in 18.1 innings.

Smith recorded two shutouts, fanning 15 batters and scattering eight hits over nine innings against Embry-Riddle before adding 11 more K's in a three-hit shutout of Rollins in five innings. She also picked up a win with 1.1 innings of shutout relief against Rollins and earned a three-inning save with six strikeouts versus West Alabama.

This is the second time Smith has won a National Pitcher of the Week award, winning back on March 1, 2017.

The Nighthawks will travel to Columbus State to participate in the CSU Cougar Classic this weekend. First pitch Saturday is set for 11 a.m.
