Hall County Animal Control has reported another confirmed case of rabies in the county, the third for 2018.
A rabid skunk came into contact with a dog on Cleveland Highway in the Clermont area, according to a statement from animal control officials. Word came on Monday that the skunk had the disease.
Positive alert signs have gone up in the area where the rabid animal was discovered. Residents who live in the area and see an animal acting abnormally are encouraged to contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830. During non-working hours, residents can call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.
Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1688 Barber Rd, Gainesville.
