Baseball: Lakeview opens season with win over East Jackson

DAHLONEGA — Lakeview baseball opened its 2018 campaign with a 9-4 win over East Jackson on Monday in Dahlonega at the University of North Georgia.

The Lions (1-0) sprinted to a 9-0 lead through the first four innings.

Sam Stewart went 3 for 5 at the plate with a triple, double and single and 4 RBI, while Andrew Estes went 2 for 3 and scored 4 runs. Ian Echols also went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, and Skyler Thellman finished 2 for 4 with a RBI. 

Lakeview starting pitcher Evan Gravitt went 5 innings, tossing a shutout while allowing just 2 hits and striking out 6 batters. 

The Lions play again at 4:30 p.m. Thursday against Towns County in Gainesville.
