JEFFERSON — For the second straight season the Jefferson girls will carry the No. 1 seed from Region 8-AAAA into the Class AAAA state tournament.

Jefferson girls coach Jason Gibson said they are hitting their stride at just the right time.

"We played really well the last two weeks," Gibson said. "We shot the ball well and really controlled the game with our tempo. I thought it ws the kind of game we're capable of and that makes us a tough team."

Now, the Lady Dragons will get home court advantage through at least the first two rounds of the playoffs.

"It's always great to be at home in the playoffs and I'm our fans with give us a good atmosphere," Gibson said.

The Jefferson boys could not make it a sweep falling to St. Pius 82-50 in the finals. But the Dragons were playing without leading scorer Jasper Gibson who was out with an ankle injury.
