Charges are expected against the driver who hit and injured a construction worker on I-85 early Friday morning in the Suwanee area.

Gwinnett Police Cpl. Wilbert Rundles said the victim, 42-year-old Lamar Ragland of Franklin, was removing construction barrels near the I-985 merge when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla around 5 a.m.

"The driver of the Corolla entered the lane closure with the intent to enter onto 985 north and struck the worker," Rundles said.

Rundles said Ragland was wearing a reflective jacket and helmet at the time of the collision.

The driver, identified as Peter Rozboril, 55, stopped and remained at the scene to speak with investigators.

"Charges will be forthcoming, but they haven't been filed right now," Rundles said.

Rundles said Ragland was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville with serious injuries.
