Saturday-night fire heavily damages Baldwin home

Fire caused heavy damage to a Banks County home Saturday night.

Banks County Fire/EMS was dispatched to 438 Otis Brown Road, Baldwin, for a reported structure fire at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.

“Upon arrival, they found a one-story, single-family residence on a full basement with the fire showing from the roof and front of the structure,” said Banks County Fire/EMS Chief Steve Nichols.

The fire was quickly contained, and damage was concentrated in the living room area off the front porch, according to Nichols.

The entire structure received smoke and heat damage, and is listed as sustaining heavy damage, according to Nichols. The occupants were home at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Banks County Fire investigators, but appears to be accidental in nature, Nichols said Monday.

Baldwin and Lee Arrendale State Prison fire departments also assisted.

Units remained on scene until about 8:45 p.m.
