Sugar Hill to discuss proposed neighborhood, update to tattoo parlor policies

Sugar Hill City Council members are expected to discuss a proposed neighborhood backing up to Lanier High School, and an update to the city's policy regarding tattoo parlors when it meets next week.

At its work session Monday evening, council will get an update on the 32-acre, 145-lot subdivision being proposed along Buford Highway at Woodward Mill Road, said Paul Radford, city manager, in an email to AccessWDUN.

The neighborhood would include 88 townhomes and 57 single family detached homes. It would be accessed from Buford Highway and North Price Road, said Radford.

Currently, the land sits just outside the city limits, and would therefore have to be annexed into the city.

As for the tattoo parlor policy, council members are considering the approval of a zoning ordinance amendment that would allow "body art" under the "business" classification, provided the business owners meet certain requirements and apply for a license with the city.

Those conditions would include health department approvals and background checks, among others, said Radford.

Both items are expected to be discussed Monday night at the city council's work session, which will be held at 7 p.m. at Sugar Hill City Hall.
