(UPDATE) Boys basketball: Banks, Bluff, Chestatee get region wins; Lakeview, East Jackson lose

Cherokee Bluff got back on the winning track with a 76-56 win over Fannin County Friday night at home.

Griffin Neville scored 18 points to lead the Bears.

Jason Everett chipped in 15 points, and Corey Thomas had 8.

Cherokee Bluff (5-4, 2-2) will play Drew Charter School Saturday at Lanier High School. Tip is 5 p.m.


 

BANKS COUNTY 69
PUTNAM COUNTY 42

Banks County opened its Region 8-2A schedule with an impressive win on the road Friday night.

The Leopards (4-4. 1-0 Region 8-2A) got another huge game from junior Carl Cleveland, who pured in 38 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to go with 3 assists, 2 steals,and 3 blocks. Pierce Martin and Clay Gosnell each added 9 points for Banks County.

The Leopards play host to Rabun County Saturday in a another big region affair. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

 

FRANKLIN, NC 61
LAKEVIEW 49

Franklin, NC rallied in the second half to beat Lakeview Academy Friday night on the road. 

Adam Cottrell scored 26 points, pulled 7 rebounds and had 5 steals in the Lions loss. 

Conley Millwood tossed in 7 points for the Lions. 

Lakeview led at the half 27-24, but Franklin found the basket in the second half to run away from the Lions.

The Lions (5-3) will play Maynard Jackson in the Julio Jones Kia Classic at the Cobb County Civic Center Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.

HART COUNTY 66
EAST JACKSON 48

Tay Howard scored 21 points and Jimmie Jackson had 11 in East Jackson’s loss to Hart County Friday night on the road.

East Jackson (4-5, 0-3) will host Jefferson Tuesday. Tip is 7:30 p.m.

CHESTATEE 73
WEST HALL 65

Chestatee picked its eighth win of the season Friday night against West Hall at home.

Brenton Nichols led the War Eagles with 21 points. Cameron Gwyn and Jonah Bull scored 17 each. The War Eagles hit 11 of 14 free throws to help secure the win.

West Hall’s Noah Edmondson and Sawyer Passmore had 15 points each 

Chestatee (8-3, 2-2) will play at North Hall Saturday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

West Hall (2-6, 1-1) will host Denmark Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
