Former Gwinnett teacher pleads guilty in Lake Lanier incident involving young girl

The former Gwinnett County teacher arrested for biting the buttocks of a 14-year-old in Lake Lanier this past summer has pleaded guilty.

The AJC reports 30 year-old Jonathan William Herbert of Dacula issued the first offender plea to charges of battery, public drunkenness, and bribery stemming from his attempts to pay a Hall County deputy to not arrest him.

Northeastern Judicial Circuit District Attorney Lee Darragh dropped the charges of sexual battery against a child under 16 and second-degree cruelty to children in the July 4th incident.

Herbert will spend 30 days in jail and 4 years on probation.
