Georgia Department of Transportation has been hitting the roads in all North Georgia counties applying brine to the roadways and scraping ice in the extreme northern counties.
"Up to this point, the Northeast region has been prepared," Strickland said. "I feel like we have done a really good job of prepping the roadways and then starting to scrape in those counties that were hit and more effected by the snow and ice"
She added the pre-treating started early in the weekend and has continued steadily.
Strickland said as the danger of ice has remained in the forecast, they have been making more brine at a location in Gwinnett County. She added there is ice remaining on many roadways in Stephens, Habersham and Rabun Counties.
