Dawson runs over Fannin, sets up showdown with North Hall

BLUE RIDGE — Dawson County did its part Friday night to continue on a collision course with North Hall for second place in Region 7-3A and a home field playoff game.

The Tigers (7-1, 3-1 Region 7-3A) walloped Fannin County 53-7 at Rebel Stadium grounding out 263 yards rushing, paced Ahmad Kamara’s 81 yards and two scores. Shawn Thomas added 38 yards and a pair of scores while Isaiah Grindle had 53 yards and one touchdown.

Senior quarterback Sevaughn Clark was an efficient 9 of 12 for 174 yards with two touchdowns passing for Dawson County. Ryan Glass had 4 catches for 28 yards and one touchdown and Dakohta Sonnichsen had 2 catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. Junior tight end TJ Wilson had 2 receptions for 75 yards for the Tigers.

Dawson County, which clinched a playoff berth with the victory, will take on winless Cherokee Bluff next week and then close out the regular season against North Hall at Tiger Stadium on Nov. 2 for the No. 2 spot and a home field playoff game.
