Union County rolls Banks County, stays unbeaten in 8-2A

BLAIRSVILLE — Pierson Allison had 327 combined yards and six combined touchdowns Friday night to lead Union County to a 49-17 win over Banks County in a big Region 8-2A matchup at Mike Colwell Stadium.

Allison was 16 of 20 for 226 yards and four touchdowns passing and added 101 yards on the ground and two more scores.

The Panthers never trailed and the win pushed them to 7-0 overall 4-0 in region play. It is the second 7-0 start for Union County in the past four seasons and they kept pace with Rabun County atop the region standings.

Allison spread the ball around as six different receivers caught a pass. Sawyer Drake paced the group with 5 catches for 86 yards and a score. Kyle Morlock had 4 receptions for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Kanon Hemphill had 3 cathes for 31 yards, Cayden Rich had 2 for 23 yards, and Chayton Schafer and Chad Buzzard had one each for a combined 37 yards.

Buzzard also had 11 carries for 70 yards rushing for the game.

The Panthers travel to winless Oglethorpe County next week.

With the loss Banks County (3-4, 2-2) dropped into a third-place tie with Elbert County (4-3, 2-2). The Leopards travel to Putnam County next week.
