Riverside Military Academy names DeFoor as new VP

Riverside Military Academy (RMA) has named Ellen DeFoor as the new Vice President of Advancement for the Gainesville school.

DeFoor most recently served as Director of Development and on the leadership team of The Medical Center Foundation (TMCF), the philanthropic arm of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS). In the role, she was responsible for planning and implementing all fund development efforts to increase philanthropic support of TMCF to advance NGHS as the preferred healthcare resource in North Georgia.

According to a press statement from RMA, since 2008, DeFoor has held positions of increasing responsibility in her development career. Prior to working in fundraising, she owned and managed a successful business providing professional release of information services to healthcare facilities and physician offices, which included processing confidential requests for patient health information.

DeFoor grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and has lived in Gainesville, Georgia since 1989. Her husband Mark is employed with the Barrow County school system. They have adult twin children.

DeFoor's first day on the job at RMA is Monday, Jan. 29.
