Boys basketball: Lakeview, Union notch wins; Commerce falls

ATHENS — The Lakeview Academy boys basketball team dominated Athens Christian for a 77-39 win on Saturday in Athens.

Adam Cottrell paced the Lions (14-6, 11-0 Region 8-A) with 16 points, while Holden Cooper added 13 and Drew Cottrell 11 points. Blake McIntyre and Noah Lindler also chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Lakeview will play host to Tallulah Falls at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Panthers blew things open with a 16-1 run to start the fourth quarter, extending their lead to 50-32 after leading by a single point in the third quarter.

Sawyer Drake scored 15 points in a return from injury, while Patrick Baggett had 11 to end a four-game losing skid.

Union County plays host to North Hall on Tuesday.


OCONEE COUNTY BOYS 59,
COMMERCE 29

Jamecus Cox led Commerce with 19 points in the loss on Saturday.

Oconee led 26-19 at halftime and outscored the Tigers 34-10 in the second half.

Commerce will host Riverside Military Academy at 7 p.m. Monday.
