Girls basketball: GAC pulls away from Dawson in 3rd; Lakeview, Union, Stephens, Banks each win

DAWSONVILLE — The Greater Atlanta Christian girls basketball team used a 19-7 third quarter run to take control and hold on for a 69-52 defeat of Dawson County on Saturday in Dawsonville.

The Lady Tigers stayed step-for-step with the Lady Spartans in the first half, battling to a 18-18 tie after the first quarter and trailing just 32-30 at the half. But GAC ran out to a decisive lead after the interval, 51-37 to begin the fourth quarter.

Kaylee Sticker scored 16 points to pace Dawson County, while Cadey Ayers had 14 and Abi Chatham scored 11.

Dawson County will travel to Fannin County on Tuesday.


LAKEVIEW GIRLS 45,
ATHENS CHRISTIAN 38

Sadie Thrailkil scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and 3 steals to help lead the Lady Lions to a region win on Saturday.

Maddy Towles also scored 11 points and nabbed 3 steals for the Lady Lions (13-7, 8-1 Region 8-A) in the win.

Lakeview led 20-16 at the half.

The Lady Lions play host to Tallulah Falls at 6 p.m. Tuesday.


STEPHENS COUNTY GIRLS 50,
TOWNS COUNTY 45

Tykia Thompson scored 15 points to lead the Lady Indians to the win on Saturday over Towns County. Anaiah Wilson and Nana Eades also scored 8 points apiece for Stephens County.


UNION COUNTY GIRLS 69,
ANDREWS (N.C.) 35

The Lady Panthers (13-7) pulled away from a 28-17 halftime advantage with 13 points in the third quarter from sophomore Andelin Hill.

Union County sophomore Kait McCarter led all scorers with 18.

The Lady Panthers play host to North Hall on Tuesday.


BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 72,
SOCIAL CIRCLE 28

Jaycie Bowen led a balanced scoring effort for the Lady Leopards on Staurday, tallying 16 points. Amber Williams also scored 15, while Allison Smith had 13.

Maddie Thomas and Layna Parson also scored 7 points apiece.
