Basketball: Lakeview gets 8-A road sweep of Hebron

DACULA — Lakeview Academy swept a pair of key Region 8-A games on the road Tuesday night.

The Lakeview girls opened with a 64-53 win over Hebron Christian and the boys followed with a 67-59 win over Hebron in the nightcap.

For the girls, Sadie Thrailkill led a balanced offensive attack with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Tori Taylor added 15 points and Savannah Kinsey had 14 points and 7 rebounds.

The Lady Lions improved to 11-7 overall and 7-1 in region play to remain in second place, one game behind Prince Avenue.

In the boys contest, Evan Pitts had 13 points and 8 rebounds in one of his best games of the season as he gets back to 100 percent after breaking his hand. Blake McIntyre added 12 points and Jack Blackburn 9 points for the Lions.

Lakeview ran its record to 12-6 and a perfect 9-0 in Region 8-A. They hold a 2 1/2-game lead over second place Riverside Military Academy (7-5, 6-2) in the standings.

Both Lakeview teams will travel to Towns County on Friday in another pair of Region 8-A battles.
