Girls basketball: East Hall, White County, Branch and Buford win in region play

RABBITTOWN — The East Hall girls basketball team held off Lumpkin County for a 54-50 region win on Friday in Valhalla.

Ivey Shadburn scored 13 points to pace the Lady Vikings (10-8, 4-2 Region 7-AAA), while Maggie Griffin added 12. Carly Winters also scored 10, and Jenny Lopez chipped in with 9 points.

East Hall faces Chestatee at 4 p.m. Saturday in a non-region matchup in Gainesville.

Lumpkin County will play host to White County on Saturday in a non-region game in Dahlonega.


WHITE COUNTY GIRLS 50,
BLESSED TRINITY 29

The Lady Warriors snaped a four-game losing streak with a big Region 7-AAAA win on the road.

With the victory, White County (10-8, 2-1 Region 7-AAAA) surpassed its entire region win total from a year ago. It also keeps the Lady Warriors tied for second place with West Hall in the region standings. The two teams will meet Tuesday in Oakwood.

Dasha Cannon poured in 13 points to lead the Lady Warriors, who led 30-19 at halftime. Madi Phillips had a big game with 9 points and 12 rebounds, while Bentley Cronic added 11 points and Naomi Crumley 10 points.

White County will travel to rival Lumpkin County on Saturday in a non-region battle.


FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 70,
JOHNSON 23

The Lady Falcons (15-4, 5-1 Region 8-AAAAA) pounced for a 23-5 first quarter lead and never looked back on Friday.

Taniyah Worth and Ashley Woodroffe each scored 13 points to lead Flowery Branch, while Ashlee Locke added 9 and Ashley Scott 8.

The Lady Falcons take on Cedar Shoals on Saturday in a make-up game.

The Lady Knights (0-16, 0-6) play host to Walnut Grove on Saturday in Oakwood.


BUFORD GIRLS 59,
CEDAR SHOALS 27

Tory Ozment drained six 3-pointers to score 20 points and help lead the Lady Wolves (14-2, 7-0 Region 8-AAAAA) to the win on Friday in Athens.

Buford led 18-4 after the first quarter and 32-9 at the half.

Ebony Grant added 9 points for the Lady Wolves, while Audrey Weiner added 8, as 12 Buford players scored.

The Lady Wolves travel to face Class AAAAAA ranked Harrison at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
