Jones to race in CRA SpeedFest at Watermelon Capital

By Series PR

Erik Jones, the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year, has filed an entry to compete in the upcoming CRA SpeedFest 2018 at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia.

Jones will compete in the 200 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model feature on Sunday, January 28.

“SpeedFest has been that race on my list that I’ve always wanted to win, but just haven’t been able to put it all together,” said Jones. “Last year we sat on the pole, but weren’t able to capitalize and ended up finishing second. The competition is always top notch at this event and I’m hoping this year we are the ones hoisting up that trophy in victory lane.”

Jones will join fellow NASCAR competitors Harrison Burton, who is also the defending race winner, and Corey LaJoie.

CRA SpeedFest 2018 will consist of a 200 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model special non-points event and a 125 lap JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Model special non-points event.

Among Georgia drivers expected to compete over the race weekend is Gainesville, Georgia’s Shane Chastain.

Additional entries for both events are expected to continue to arrive over the next couple of weeks leading up to the event. For more information, visit CRA-Racing.com.
