Gainesville 2017 property tax bills sent out

GAINESVILLE - The City of Gainesville mailed out more that 13,000 2017 tax bills Friday. The bill taxpayers will be getting in the mail is due December 1. 

This year, the property tax revenue for the City of Gainesville is $12.1 million. That covers the cost of running government, debt and the Parks and Recreation department for the city. 

The city also bills for the city school system and that tacks on another $26 million.

There are several options for paying the property tax bills: The Gainesville tax office is open Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or online at www.gainesville.org. If you have a mortgage on your property, in all likelihood your lender takes care of the tax lien through your escrow.
