Volleyball: East Hall finishes third in 7-AAA; GHS wins in 8-AAAAAA

RABBITTOWN — The East Hall volleyball team fell to Greater Atlanta Christian and North Hall in Area 7-AAA play on Tuesday in Rabbittown, finishing the regular season as the No. 3 seed for the upcoming Area 7-AAA tournament.

The Lady Vikings (22-14, 4-2 Area 7-AAA) battled for three marathon sets against the Lady Spartans before falling 21-25, 25-17 and 29-27. The Lady Trojans, meanwhile, prevailed 25-6, 25-19.

Niyah Rucker had 9 points scored on serve for East Hall and also finished with 2 aces, 5 digs, 9 blocks and 20 kills, while Savannah Thellman had 3 points scored on serve with 1 ace, 3 kills, 10 digs and 30 assists. Holly Poole had 6 points scored on serve with 2 aces, 16 digs and 11 kills, and Summer Lindsey had 9 points scored on serve with 2 aces, 3 assists and 25 digs. Tessa Rider scored 5 points on serve with 2 aces, 28 digs, 1 block and 7 kills; Janelly Lara scored 6 points on serve with 1 ace, 2 assists and 22 digs; Macy Thomas had 5 kills, 1 dig and 2 blocks; and Rachel McGee had 1 assist and 1 block.

The Lady Vikings play host to Hart County and Stephens County beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday. The 7-AAA tournament gets underway Oct. 3.

GHS SWEEPS TWO IN AREA PLAY

The Lady Red Elephants took out Lanier 25-18, 25-13 and then swept Habersham Central 25-16, 25-2 on Monday to move to 6-0 in 8-AAAAAA play.

Camille Holcomb had 13 assists to help lead Gainesville, while Kenley Jordan had 16 kills and 14 digs. Isabella Appling also had 4 aces and 19 digs, and Ashley Filson added 3 digs. Camille Calkins had 2 blocks, 1 kill and 1 ace; Abby Alexander had 7 kills; Savannah Roys had 5 aces, 8 kills and 23 assists; and Anna Wylie had 5 aces, 7 kills, 1 block and 7 digs.
