Volleyball: Branch splits in Area 8-AAAAA matches; North Hall sweeps

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Flowery Branch girls volleyball team split a pair of Area 8-AAAAA matches at home on Tuesday while North Hall swept a pair matches.

The Lady Falcons (13-3, 1-1 Area 8-AAAAA) fell to Loganville 1-2 (23-25, 25-16, 25-21) and then knocked off the Lady Knights 2-0 (25-18, 25-19).

Sophomore outside hitter Katie Williams had 9 kills and 1 block assist and junior setter Ansley McLean had 11 assists and 2 aces for Flowery Branch against Loganville.

Senior setter Ashlyn Gibeau had 7 assists and 3 aces,junior outside hitter Phoebe Hammond had 6 kills, 3 aces, 9 digs and 1 block assist, and senior libero Ellie Luciani added 1 kill, 2 aces, 1 assist, and 9 digs for the Lady Falcons.

Flowery Branch next will travel to Habersham Central on Wednesday to take on the Lady Raiders and East Hall.


NORTH HALL SWEEPS

The Lady Trojans did not drop a set in taking a pair of dominating wins.

North Hall trounced Dawson County 25-5, 25-14 in Area 7-AAA play and then spiked Chestatee 25-18, 25-8 in the second match.

Caroline Brady had a 15 point service run with 5 aces, 6 kills, 5 digs to pace North Hall. Lily Paschall had 39 assists, 14 digs, 2 aces, 2 kills and Autumn Tucker had 19 kills, 21 digs, 2 aces, 1 block for the Lady Trojans. Melissa DeVerter had 14 kills, 3 blocks, and 5 digs, Savannah Miller had 4 kills, Madison Brock had 3 kills, and  Lena Strickland had 16 digs and 2 aces for North Hall.

Grace Hollifield had 2 kills, Maci Gillespie had 6 digs, and Holly Worden had 3 aces.

North Hall will travel to Hebron Academy on Thursday.
