Everett edges McTier for Hartwell Modified Street victory

By Brandon Reed Reporter

Jennifer Everett held off a hard challenge from Michael McTier to score a popular Modified Street feature victory Saturday night at Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway.

The Winder, Georgia speedster started the feature from the pole, and jumped out to the early lead. McTier was in hot pursuit, driving hard to the inside line in an attempt to pass several times throughout the 15-lap feature.

But Everett used the high line around the 3/8-mile clay speedway to keep her momentum up, holding off McTier each time.

McTier made a final big push on the last lap as the duo raced into turn three, but Everett held him off coming off the fourth turn to score the victory.

The fans showed their appreciation as they came to their feet to salute the winner as Everett climbed from her car in victory lane .

McTier had to settle for second, with Richard Jones in third, Aaron McIntosh in fourth and Thomas Segars in fifth.

In other action, Danny Sanders drove to his second straight Crate Late Model win, but it didn’t come easy, as Larry Timms challenged him throughout the 20-lap feature. In the end, Timms finished in second, with Grant Jordan in third, Eric Veal in fourth and Jody Freeman in fifth.

Shane Yarbrough held off Cameron Crowe to the Hobby feature victory. Joe Yarbrough, Brian Grumbles and Joe Cash rounded out the top five.

Cal Moon and Jeremy Jones battled throughout the 15-lap Stock V8 feature, with the pair making contact more than once. In the end, it was Moon beating out Jones for the win, with Joseph Teasley in third, Robert Crowe in fourth and Donald McDonald in fifth.

Ryan Boles scored the Stock Four victory over Dustin Bales, with Bubba Nation finishing in third, followed by Jimmy Little in fourth and Pete Whitley in fifth.

Seth Brown took the win in the Up Front feature. Randy Shaw finished second, with North West third, Brandon Grimes fourth and Justin Sorrow fifth.
