LOGANVILLE — Winder-Barrow is 4-0 for the first time since 2007 but it didn't come easy Friday night against Loganville.
The Bulldoggs fell behind 14-0 early and needed a late interception by Ryan Mayard to pull off a 17-14 come-from-behind win over the Red Devils on the road.
It was just the third win ever for Winder-Barrow over Loganville (0-4) but the second since 2014.
Loganville jumped out to its quick lead picking off a Brock Landis pass and returning it for a touchdown and then getting a long drive in the first quarter. But the Bulldoggs defense did not buckle the rest of the way giving the offense time to get things going.
Harlan Brown booted a 35-yard field goal and then Jamar Mack scored on a 1-yard dive to cut the lead to 14-10 by halftime.
It stayed that way until Landis capped the Bulldoggs' best drive of the game with a 1-yard leap over the pile for a touchdown and a 17-14 lad with just 2:42 left.
The Red Devils had one last chance by Mayard's interception with just 30 seconds sealed the win.
"What I was proud of was that we were able to win a game where we didn't play well at all," Winder-Barrow coach Heath Webb said. "The guys just kept fighting and found a way to win."
The Bulldoggs travel to North Oconee next week in their final non-region action.
