A Sugar Hill man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Winder Highway (Georgia 53) in south Hall County Friday morning.
The Georgia State Patrol said Matthew Molle, 32, was traveling southbound on Georgia 53 when he attempted to make a left turn into Lanier National Speedway. Troopers said a tractor trailer was traveling southbound right behind Molle.
"Vehicle #1 [the tractor trailer] was following too closely and failed to maintain its lane by improperly passing Vehicle #2 [the motorcycle] on the left in the northbound lane of GA 53," the State Patrol wrote in an email statement.
As a result, the motorcycle hit the rear tires of the tractor trailer and Molle was thrown from the bike. Investigators said Molle died at the scene.
The driver of the tractor trailer was identified as Gary Dycus, 73, of Shelby, NC.
There is no word at this time on charges in the wreck.
