Volleyball roundup: Lady Falcons rout King's Ridge in final tune-up before Area play; East Hall splits

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Flowery Branch girls volleyball team whipped King's Ridge Christian Thursday night at the Nest.

The Lady Falcons (12-2) took a three-game sweep 25-12, 25-7, 25-18 over the Lady Tigers.

Senior middle blocker Anna Marshall led the way with 10 kills, 1 solo block, 1 block assist, and 1 assist. Senior libero Ellie Lucian added 18 digs, 5 aces, and 1 assist and junior outside hitter Ashley Scott had 12 kills, 10 digs, 4 aces, and 1 block assist for Flowery Branch. Junior right side Phoebe Hammond had 9 kills.

The Falcons next will travel Tuesday to Buford to take on the Lady Wolves and Walnut Grove to begin Area 8-AAAAA play.


East Hall ran its season record to 17-10 (2-0 Area 7-AAA) splitting a pair of matches at home.

The Lady Vikings knocked off White County 25-22, 25-17 but fell to Walnut Grove in a tough three-set match 21-25, 25-18, 25-23.

Savannah Thellman had 15 points scored on serve with 7 aces, 3 kills, 10 digs and 39 assists to pace East Hall. Niyah Rucker added 7 points scored on serve with 2 aces, 17 kills, 1 dig, 1 assist and 8 blocks, Holly Poole had 10 points scored on serve with 6 aces, 1 assist, 13 digs and 14 kills, and Summer Lindsey contributed with 8 points scored on serve with 3 aces, 1 assist and 29 digs for the Lady Vikings.

Tessa Rider scored 9 points on serve with 4 aces, 22 digs, 2 assists and 18 kills, Janelly Lara scored 7 points scored on serve with 2 aces and 21 digs, and Macy Thomas had 3 kills, 1 dig and 2 blocks for East Hall.

The Lady Vikings next will travel Union County in Area 7-AAA play on Tuesday.
