Softball: East Hall, North Hall take 7-AAA wins; Branch opens 8-AAAAA with win

DAWSONVILLE — The East Hall girls softball team remained unbeaten in Region 7-AAA after knocking off Dawson County 5-1 Wednesday.

The win for East Hall (10-5, 7-0 Region 7-AAA) kept the Lady Vikings in first place atop the region standings.

The game was tied at 1-1 after the fourth inning but the Lady Vikings' Carley Cox roped an RBI double to ignite a four-run fifth inning.

East Hall led 1-0 early but Dawson County (4-8, 1-5) tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth.

Macy Banks earned the win for East Hall going the distance allowing one run on five hits while striking out four.

Maggie Schandera took the loss for Dawson County surrendering five runs on seven hits in seven innings.

Cierra Pedraza, Cox, and Abigail Brown each drove runs for the Lady Vikings.

Carol Drake led Dawson County with three hits.

NORTH HALL 3
FANNIN COUNTY 0

North Hall (6-6, 4-1 Region 7-AAA) kept pace in Region 7-AAA after taking a shutout win over the Lady Rebels at home.

Kendyl Chase outdueled Cassidy Nichols on the mound for the Lady Trojans. Chase allowed just four hits and struck out seven in seven innigs, while Nichols fanned two and scattered eight hits in sixinnings for the Lady Rebels.

Kadie Sullens helped lead the charge with an RBI hit. Chase and Hannah Payne each collected two hits for North Hall.

With the win, the Lady Trojans stayed in second place in the standings, two games behind East Hall.

The Lady Falcons opened Region 8-AAAAA play in impressive style on the road.

Junior Alyssa Kimbrell threw a no-hitter and struck out nine in four innings for Flowery Branch (5-6, 1-0 Region 8-AAAAA).
