Volleyball roundup: North Hall sweeps, Branch splits, JHS swept heading into Hall Co. Championships

CUMMING — The North Hall girls volleyball team swept a tri-match against Forsyth Central and Peachtree Ridge Thursday on the road.

The Lady Trojans opened by beating Peachtree Ridge 25-19, 25-17 and then whipped the host Lady Bulldogs 25-10, 25-5 in the second match.

Lily Paschall had 30 assists, 11 digs, and 3 kills to pace North Hall. Melissa DeVerter had 13 kills, 6 blocks, 3 digs, Autumn Tucker had 9 kills and 11 digs, and Lena Strickland had 20 digs, 2 aces, 1 assist fot the Lady Trojans.

Caroline Brady had 3 kills, Maci Gillespie had 8 digs, Madison Brock had 5 kills and 2 aces, and Savannah Miller added 3 kills for North Hall.

North Hall next will play in the Hall County Championship on Saturday at Lakeview Academy.

BRANCH SPLITS

Flowery Branch split a pair of matches with Collins Hill and Brookwood.

The Lady Falcons (8-2) fell to Brookwood 2-1 in close match, 25-18, 21-25, 25-23. Leading the Branch was sophomore outside hitter, Katie Williams, who had 11 kills, 1 ace, and 1 block assist. Senior middle blocker Anna Marshall added 14 kills, 1 ace, and 1 solo block, and junior setters Oriah Ware and Ansley McLean, posted 24 and 8 assists respectively.

The Lady Falcons then ralied past the host Lady Eagles 2-1 (18-25, 25-12, 25-21). Junior outside hitter Phoebe Hammond led the Branch with 7 kills, 2 aces, and 1 assist. Senior setter Ashlyn Gibeau had 15 assists and 2 aces and sophomore middle blocker Sierra Lutz added 6 kills

The Lady Falcons next will play host to Habersham Central on Tuesday.

JOHNSON DROPS TWO

Johnson dropped a pair of tough three-set matches Thursday.

The Lady Knights fell 25-21, 20-25, 25-21 to Lakeview Academy and could not hold on as Gainesville took a 30-25, 25-14, 25-12 victory in the second match.

Grace Eidson had 4 aces, 10 kills, 18 assists, and 14 digs for Johnson. Alivia Farley had 7 kills, 14 assists, 11 digs, Emma Hernandez 11 kills and 8 blocks, and Emily Pena 11 digs for the Lady Knights (4-6).

Johnson next will play in the Hall County Championships on Saturday.
