North Georgia law enforcement recognized; Gainesville Police win patrol car

The Gainesville Police Department took home a new patrol vehicle as well as several other awards at the Governor's Challenge Award ceremony Wednesday.
 
The agency also took home an award for Occupant Protection, the Child Passenger Safety Award and the second place recognition for departments with 101-250 officers.
 
Gainesville Police Cpl. Jessica Van said in an email that agencies were put in to a pool and 10 were drawn to get a key. Then, each of the 10 agencies tried to use the key to try and turn on a light bar and set the lights off. Van said Gainesville's key set the lights off and they won the car.
 
Forsyth County Sheriff's Office took home the award for Motorcycle Safety and was took home second place in recognition of departments with 251-500 officers.
 
Hall County took first place recognition for 251-500 officers; Cornelia Police took third for 11-25 officers and Demorest Police swept first for departments with 1-10 officers.
