Volleyball: Buford sweeps while Lady Falcons, Johnson, East Hall all split tri-matches,

JEFFERSON — The Flowery Branch girls volleyball team split a pair of matches Thursday on the road.

The Lady Falcons (5-1) opened the tri-match with a solid 25-22, 25-18 sweep of Oconee County in the first match but then dropped heir first match of the season the host Lady Dragons 25-21, 26-24.

The Lady Falcons' senior middle blocker Anna Marshall led the way in the opening match with 6 kills and 2 aces. Senior libero Ellie Luciani who had 17 digs, 3 aces, and 1 assist, and junior setter Oriah Ware added 22 assists, 1 kill, and 1 ace for Flowery Branch.

In the second match sophomore outside hitter Katie Williams had 8 kills and 1 ace and junior outside hitter Ashley Scott added 6 kills and 2 aces for the Lady Falcons.

Flowery Branch will be back in action on Tuesday traveling to Chestatee to take on the War Eagles and West Forsyth.

BUFORD VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS

Buford traveled to Harrison in a tri-match and came away with a pair of two-game sweeps over host Harrison and Lassiter.

The Lady Wolves (6-0) held off Harrison 25-23 and 25-20 and spiked Lassiter 25-7, 25-21.

Avery Cason led the team with 20 kills and 3 blocks in the two matches. Tatum Shipes added 10 kills and 12 digs and setter Stella Alverson added 18 assists and 9 digs for Buford.

The Lady Wolves net will travel to Woodward Academy on Wednesday.

JOHNSON SPLITS

The Lady Knights beat George Walton Academy but fell to host Winder-Barrow in a tri-match at the Winder gym.

Johnson beat George Walton Academy 25-17, 25-15 and lost a tight three-set match against the Lady Bulldoggs 28-30, 25-20, 25-18.

Grace Eidson led Johnson with 15 digs, 22 assists, and 12 digs while Emma Hernandez had 15 kills and 4 blocks. Emily Pena had 5 aces and 6 digs, Kellie Tran added 6 blocks, and Julia Bowers 14 digs for the Lady Knights (2-4). 

Johnson next will play host to Winder Barrow and Jackson County in a tri-match on Tuesday.

EAST HALL SPLITS

The Lady Vikings took their season record to 8-4 by defeating Jackson County 25-21, 23-25, 25-13 but losing to Tallulah Falls 21-25, 25-21, 25-20.

Niyah Rucker had 11 points scored on serve with 27 kills, 10 digs and 4 blocks to lead East Hall. Savannah Thellman had 12 points scored on serve with 4 aces, 9 kills, 13 digs and 46 assists, Holly Poole had 8 points scored on serve with 4 aces, 27 digs and 12 kills, and Summer Lindsey had 6 points scored on serve with 1 assist and 46 digs for the Lady Vikings.

Tessa Rider scored 21 points scored on serve with 12 aces, 29 digs, 4 assists and 13 kills, Janelly Lara scored 20 points scored on serve with 8 aces, 1 assist  and 18 digs, and Macy Thomas had 8 kills on the night with 5 blocks and 2 digs for East Hall.

East Hall next will travel to Stephens County on Tuesday against Stephens County and Rabun County.
