DACULA — The Buford volleyball team opened its season with a pair of solid wins Thursday on the road.
The Lady Wolves (2-0) held off Mill Creek 25-22, 25-15 and then knocked off host Hebron Christian 25-15, 25-20.
Tatum Shipes led Buford in kills against Mill Creek with 6, while Avery Cason added 5 blocks.
Tatum also led in kills against Hebron as well with 11, while Cason added 9 kills. Stella Alverson had 29 assists against Hebron.
Buford next will travel to St. Pius on Tuesday in a tri-match with the Lady Golden Lions and Whitewater.
EAST HALL VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS
The Lady Vikings improved to 6-3 on the season, pulling a pair of three-set victories Thursday night at home.
East Hall rallied from a set down to beat Habersham Central 23-25, 25-13, 25-19 and then held off Chestatee 25-17, 23-25, 25-21.
Savannah Thellman had 7 points scored on serve with 1 ace, 10 kills, 4 digs and 42 assists for the Lady Vikings. Holly Poole had 9 points scored on serve with 5 aces, 14 kills, 6 assists and 17 digs, Summer Lindsey had 8 points scored on serve with 2 aces, 4 assists and 41 digs, and Tessa Rider scored 14 points on serve with 5 aces, 13 digs and 8 kills for East Hall.
Janelly Lara had 32 points scored on serve with 4 aces, 3 assists, 3 kills and 13 digs, Niyah Rucker had 17 points scored on serve with 4 aces, 29 kills, 10 digs, 1 assist and 5 blocks, and Macy Thomas had 4 kills and 2 blocks on the night.
The Lady Vikings play next will travel to White County on Tuesday.
NORTH HALL SPLITS
North Hall beat Winder-Barrow but fell to West Forsyth at home.
The Lady Trojans held off Winder-Barrow 29-27, 25-13 but lost 20-25, 26-24, 25-20 to the Lady Wolverines.
Lily Paschall had a big day with 42 assists, 17 digs, and 2 kills to lead North Hall. Melissa DeVerter had 17 kills, 11 blocks, 3 aces, 15 digs, Autumn Tucker had 13 kills, 2 blocks, 11 digs, Caroline Brady had 6 kills, 11 digs, 1 block, and Savannah Miller had 10 kills, 1 block for the Lady Trojans.
Lena Strickland had 16 digs, 2 aces, Maci Gillespie had 16 digs and 1 assist, and Madison Brock had 4 kills, 3 aces, 7 digs.
North Hall next will travel to Johnson on Tuesday.
LADY KNIGHTS SPLIT AT HOME
The Johnson girls swept White County 25-22 and 25-18 but fell to Jefferson 25-13, 22-25 and 25-17 on Thursday night in Oakwood.
Grace Eidson help pace the Lady Knights (1-1) with 5 aces, 15 kills, 17 assists and 6 digs, while Alivia Farley scored 10 digs, 11 kills, 18 assists and 9 kills. Emma Hernandez also had 3 aces, 15 kills and 4 blocks, while Julia Bowers had 8 digs and Kellie Tran 6 kills.
Johnson plays host to Gainesville and North Hall on Tuesday.
