Police capture suspect in fatal Suwanee stabbing

The suspect in the fatal stabbing of a woman in Suwanee Monday afternoon was captured at a grocery store in Stone Mountain Tuesday.

Jesse L. Bodie, 33, was captured at the Kroger at 1227 Rockbridge Road, according to police.

"Officers received a tip that Jesse was at the grocery store earlier this morning," Cpl. Michele Pihera stated in a Tuesday afternoon update.  "Officers assigned to the South Precinct along with deputies with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office descended upon the scene and arrested Jesse without incident."

Bodie has active warrants for murder and aggravated assault in reference to Monday’s homicide, according to Pihera.

The victim, Vera Tulbure, 33, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in serious condition following the attack.  She later died.

Police became involved when a female family member called 911 around 2:30 p.m. to report trouble at 3865 Crescent Walk Lane in Suwanee.  Before officers arrived, the call was upgraded to a stabbing, according to Pihera.

Officers searched the residence, but the suspect had fled.

Police on Monday identified that suspect as Bodie.  Bodie and Tulbure are believed to have been dating for a little over a year, according to Pihera.  She said there's been a history of domestic disputes between the two.

In addition to a precautionary and limited SWAT team activation in Monday's search, police also issued a reverse 911 statement to residents in the neighborhood.  It urged them to call 911 if they spot Bodie.
