Verizon: Software issue caused service interruption

By B.J. Williams
Verizon customers north and west of Atlanta who were having some trouble with their wireless service Monday will be happy to know a company spokeswoman confirmed the software issue that caused the outage should be resolved.

"Verizon Wireless experienced interruption in 3G1X voice and data service for some customers north and west of Atlanta today. Engineers were able to identify and resolve the issue and service was restored by 1:50 PM EST," said Kate Jay in an email statement.

Earlier in the day, Jay, who is with Verizon's Southeast office, said "We are currently experiencing a service interruption affecting 3G and 1X voice and data for some customers north and west of Atlanta."

Jay did not say how many customers have been affected.

Verizon customers from Toccoa to Flowery Branch to Buford - and a number of cities in between - have commented on AccessWDUN's Facebook page that they have been inconvenienced by the service problems.

She also did not indicate in her email statement which specific counties were experiencing service interruptions.
