Gwinnett County public schools will delay dismissal by one hour on August 21 due to the solar eclipse.
The near total eclipse should be visible in Gwinnett between 2:35 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. and will last approximately two minutes.
Because high school students are usually released at 2 p.m. and elementary students start release at 2:45 p.m. Gwinnett School officials wanted to ensure safe viewing of the eclipse and a safe dismissal for students.
School activities related to the solar eclipse will vary by school.
