Lula Farmers Market opening Fridays through October

LULA — Local farmers are invited to sell their harvest on Main Street in downtown Lula on Fridays from now through October.

“Locally Grown or Locally Made” is the theme of the Lula Farmers Market, which will feature fruits and vegetables, as well as original art or locally-made craft items available for sale.

The Lula Farmers Market is a community event sponsored by Around the Corner Florist and Gifts.

“The idea is to give the folks of Lula a chance to buy from local farmers or gardeners and to provide a chance for people to get to know each other here in the Lula,” said Patti Thomas, owner of Around the Corner Florist and Gifts. “We will start earlier in the growing season next year, but the Farmers Market will be open every Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. through October.”

The Lula City Council discussed the revival of the farmers market during its work session last week and meeting this week.

The farmers market will be located in the parking lot south of the Athens Street railroad crossing on Main Street in downtown Lula.

There is no charge for booth space, but sellers are asked to register in advance. There are some prohibited items to keep with the “Locally Grown or Locally Made” theme.

Locally-grown fruits, vegetables, flowers and locally-made crafts are encouraged.

To learn more about the types of items that can be sold and how to set up a booth, contact Patti Thomas at (770) 869-3516, or email [email protected].
