ATLANTA — Gainesville's Spencer Ralston made it back to the U.S. Amateur after shooting a two-day total of 134 to finish in the top four of a qualifying event at Capital City Club-Crabapple Tuesday.

Ralston, a University of Georgia standout and Gainesville High graduate, carded a 1-over-par 71 to finish in a tie for third with Andy Ogletree from Meridian, Miss. The pair was two shots back of qualifying winner and Georgia Tech standout Luke Schniederjans of Alpharetta.

Ralston led the field after Monday's opening round, firing a blistering 7-under 63 to lead Schniederjans by one stroke.

After having just one bogey on Monday, Ralston ran into trouble on Tuesday. He had three birdies to go with four bogeys, including three of the final four holes, but was able to hang on for a qualifying spot.

The 2017 U.S. Amateur Open will be held August 14-20 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, and the Bel-Air Country Club
in Los Angeles, California

Current Gainsville High standout Ryan Hogan finished with a two-day total of 145 (5-over par) in the qualifying event.
