An 18-year-old was killed in a Friday afternoon traffic accident north of Cumming, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Cpl. Peter Sabella said in a press release that the accident involved three vehicles.

"Deputies were called to the intersection of Spot Road and Twin Lakes Drive for a motor vehicle accident with injuries," Sabella wrote.

"When deputies arrived, they determined a 2010 Mercedes SUV, being driven by a 17-year-old female from Suwanee, collided with a 2005 Honda Accord, driven by an 18-year-old male from Cumming."

Sabella said the impact forced the Honda to slide sideways into the path of a westbound Nissan Pathfinder.

The male driver of the Honda died at the scene of the accident.

The 22-year-old driver of the Pathfinder, a man from Dahlonega, and his 37-year-old male passenger from Cumming, were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, according to Sabella.

He did not say if the driver of Mercedes SUV was injured.

Sabella said identities of those involved in the wreck will not be released until relatives can be notified.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit.
