GSP releases details of fatal Rabun County crash

TIGER - An 18-year-old man died and six other people were injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Rabun County early Friday.

The wreck was reported at 12:30 a.m. on East Wolf Creek Road in Tiger.

A 1995 Chevrolet GMT 400 driven by Jesse Reeves Smith, 22, of Lakemont struck the rear of a 1988 Ford Bronco driven by Wyatt Bishop Wilson, 17, of Clayton, according to GSP.

Both vehicles were traveling west on East Wolf Creek Road.

Smith suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was not transported for treatment.

Smith's passenger, 22-year-old James Cody Smith of Lakemont, also suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was not transported for treatment, according to GSP.

Wilson was airlifted to Greenville, with the status of his injuries unknown, according to GSP.

Wilson's passenger, 18-year-old Kurtis Ray Coates of Rabun County, also was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital, with the status of his injuries unknown.

Jon Charles Turpin, 15, of Walhalla, S.C., another passenger in Wilson's vehicle was injured and taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

Isiah Friesel, 15 of Tamasse, S.C., another passenger in Wilson's Bronco, was injured and was taken by ambulance to Mountain Lakes Regional Hospital. The status of his injuries is unknown, according to GSP.

An 18-year-old male, also a passenger in the Bronco, was ejected and fatally injured, according to GSP.

The name of the fatality is not being released pending confirmation of identity, according to GSP.
