Stormy weather pushes Kentucky NXS race to Saturday

For the second time in as many weeks, Mother Nature as taken a hand in the running of a NASCAR Xfinity Series race.

With torrential rains and heavy lightning moving into the Sparta, Kentucky area, NASCAR officials made the decision to postpone Friday night’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Alsco 300 at Kentucky Speedway to noon on Saturday.

PRN Radio will have live coverage beginning at 11:30 am.

Officials were wrapping up Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series qualifying when a severe storm hit the area, bringing with it heavy lightning.  NASCAR quickly moved to clear the grandstands for safety reasons.

Around 7:15 pm EST, NASCAR made the call to postpone Friday night’s race, with the threat of severe storms looming for the next several hours.

Once the race goes green, Kyle Busch will lead the field down to the green flag, with teammate Erik Jones starting on the outside of the front row.

Ryan Blaney will start third, Joey Logano fourth and William Byron  fifth.

Tyler Reddick, Brennan Poole, Cole Custer, Paul Menard, and Daniel Hemric will round out the top ten starters.
