Griggs grabs Modified Street victory at Winder-Barrow

Wayne Griggs took advantage of a spin between the leaders ahead of him to take the lead, and drive on to the win Saturday night’s Modified Street feature at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway.

The feature got off to a rocky start at the 3/8-mile clay oval. When the green flag flew, Jacob Jackson made contact with the car of Paul Bennett, turning Bennett’s car down into Aaron Criswell. All three cars were sent spinning as they passed under the flagstand, bringing out the caution immediately.

On the second start attempt, Kevin Wright jumped out to the lead with Jordan Poole in pursuit. Wright would hold the lead through the first half of the feature, but Poole hounded him, looking low several times in an attempt to pass.

Poole was finally able to get alongside Wright coming down the backstretch, but the two made contact, sending both cars spinning. Poole was able to continue, but Wright’s night was over.

Meanwhile, Griggs inherited the lead, with Criswell in tow. Over the closing laps, Criswell tried time and again to get alongside, but couldn’t pull off the pass as Griggs scored the victory.

Criswell held on to finish in second, with Poole recovering to finish in third, with Paul Bennett in fourth.

In other action, Rodney Peters scored his third consecutive Limited Late Model victory, with Scott Frady in second, John Anderson in third, Ken Lampp in fourth and Ronnie Poole in fifth.

Jerome Hanson was the winner in the Hobby Stock feature. Dustin Cason finished in second, followed by Chad Stinchcomb in third, Andrew Barton in fourth and Shawn Tullis in fifth.

Mark Chancey took the victory in the Stock V8 feature, with Ronnie Poole, Zach Brown, Jeff Casper and Trey Pilgrim rounding out the top five.

P.J. Taylor came home with the win in the Stock 4A feature. Justin Taylor was second, with Shane Peppers third, James Gaines fourth and Allen Cantrell fifth.

James Robinson was the winner in the Stock 4B feature, with Elliott Brayboy in second, Nick Fulcher in third, Bobby Croya in fourth and Brandon Franklin in fifth.
