SENOIA, Ga. - Tod Darda has 39 career victories at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway, but had not won in the highly competitive Super Late Model division since he moved to that division three years ago.
Darda changed that on Saturday night with a wire to wire win over the two-time defending track champion Clint Smith.
Darda has been competing at the 3/8ths mile clay track since it reopened in 2010 as a dirt track. Saturday night, he jumped to the lead ahead of fellow front row starter Mason Massey, with Smith in pursuit. Smith worked past Massey early and then set his sights on the leader.
Darda finally pulled away in the final few laps and claimed the victory ahead of Smith. Massey finished in third, with Ricky Williams in fourth and Bubba Pollard in fifth.
In other action Thomas Lewis scored the win in the Limited Late Model feature, with Jason Williams in second, Matt Dooley in third, Brand Lewis in fourth and Bailey Williams in fifth.
Jody Knowles charged to the Crate Late Model feature victory, with Dylan Knowles in second, Dennis Lykins, Jr. in third, Colby Darda in fourth and Chase Baker in fifth.
Curtis Turner took the win in the Late Model Sportsman feature, with Keith Fields, Blant Duke, Billy Stevenson and Blake Griffin rounding out the top five.
Joe Hillman dominated the Hobby Stock feature to take his sixth victor of the season, with Shane Tidwell in second and H.B. Duke in third.
Mark Newton passed Tommy Faulkner on the second lap of the Mini Stock feature went on to score the victory. Peter Simmons was running second, but spun coming out of turn four on the final lap. That allowed Jamie Nicholson, Sr. to finish in second, with Mike Younginer in third.
Tim Harmon scored the win in the Bomber feature, with Dunie Dillard in second, Abe Chase in third, Charlie Garrett in fourth and Wilson Boozer in fifth.
Dean Williams won the Hot Shots feature, with Morgan Pittman in second and Nathan Farrow in third.
Senoia Raceway returns to action on Saturday, July 1, as the speedway hosts the Southern All-Star Dirt Late Models for the Michael Head, Jr. Memorial race.
