A Lula woman and her boyfriend are facing child cruelty charges after her children were found home alone Tuesday morning.
Lt. Scott Ware with the Hall County Sheriff's Office says they received a call about some children unattended at a home in the 5500 block of Hemlock Court in Lula.
Ware said investigators found the children, the oldest of which was 10, were left in a home with no power, means of communication or guidance.
"The house had no power, there were at least two methamphetamine smoking devices which had residual amounts of meth in them... the children had access to those, if they had wandered upon them," said Ware. "Also, the house was very nasty, there were roaches and things of that nature."
Ashly Nichole Gibson, 27, of Lula and Matthew James Hardy, 33, of Lula were located and charged with four felony counts each of cruelty to children in the second degree, four counts each or reckless conduct and one count each of possession of methamphetamine.
Ware said both were arrested without incident and remain in the Hall County Jail.
