The Gainesville Police Department has released the name of the man shot and wounded Sunday morning at the Lenox Park Apartments off Athens Highway.
Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said Benjamin Perez, 45, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. At last report, Perez remained hospitalized at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
The suspect in the case remains on the run, although Holbrook said Sunday the victim and suspect apparently knew one another.
The shooting incident took place around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
