Man sentenced to 28 years for attempting to meet a child for sex in Suwanee, other crimes

A Lawrenceville man will spend 28 years and four months in prison, plus a lifetime on probation, for trying to meet a child for sex in Suwanee.

Leonard Nathanial Peragine, Jr., 34, responded to a phony add posted by the FBI, promising access to a child for sex, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney John Horn.

“Such conduct is as dehumanizing as it is dangerous. Sexual predators may feel the anonymity of the internet keeps them safe from detection, but this case shows that these predators will be found and prosecuted," said Horn.

While arranging to meet with the child, Peragine sent videos of child pornography to the undercover agent, and asked whether or not the "child" would be willing to try some of the activities depicted in them.

Agents set up a meeting with Peragine in Suwanee on Sept. 29, 2015, at which point he was arrested. FBI agents found condoms in his car, and more child pornography on his cell phone.

As agents continued to investigate, they discovered that Peragine sexually abused three girls, ages one, six and eight, and a boy, 14.

Peragine pleaded guilty in October 2016, but still faces oustanding child molestation charges in Lumpkin County.
