2 North Georgia men face charges in Marietta sting

Two North Georgia men were arrested recently in a child predator sting in Cobb County.

According to a release from the Marietta Police Department, David Butterworth, 40, of Flowery Branch and Mitchell Walters, 28, of Cumming were among 15 men face a computer pornography charge.

The arrests were announced Thursday, but Marietta Police said in the release the online operation began in October 2016. They also participated in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Operation Spring Cleaning in April 2017.

In total, 15 men were arrested in the operation. Their names are below:

  • Nikolas Sims, 23, Conyers

  • Christopher Braden, 38, Jasper, Alabama
  • Noe Verdugo, 36, Atlanta
  • James Conner, 45, Monroe
  • Thornton Barrow, 54, Central, South Carolina 
  • David Butterworth, 40, Flowery Branch
  • Justin Clark, 31, Hines, Oregon 
  • Mitchell Walters, 28, Cumming
  • Keith Grogan, 44, Graycourt, South Carolina
